I saw people posting about a HomePod update on Twitter, and I thought, oh cool I should probably update mine. I then realised I had no idea where the “Check for Updates” button would be as the HomePod doesn’t have a dedicated app.
I thought again for a moment and decided it was probably in the Home app, feeling pleased with myself I started poking around trying to find it and weirdly it wasn't under the device “Details” area as I had expected. I ended up turning to Googling, and it turns out it's actually under the “location” arrow. Yeah, under the tiny little location arrow in the top left of the app, because that makes perfect sense.
In case you wanted to update your own HomePod and were also feeling lost, here's how to do it:
The first HomePod update weighs in at a reasonably hefty 2.36GB, so don’t expect this to be a quick process, mine took around 15 minutes to download and install.
